ABOUT CANMMP
Mentorship should be accessible to every medical student.
Medical students, and particularly those who are the first in their families to pursue medicine or who come from low-income or historically marginalized backgrounds, often face barriers to finding meaningful mentorship throughout their training. Accessible, structured mentorship can help bridge this gap by connecting students with physicians who can offer personalized guidance, encouragement and professional support.

OUR ORIGIN
From an Ontario initiative
to a national program
CanMMP grew out of a mentorship initiative led through the Ontario Medical Students Association (OMSA). Initially, the program matched approximately 30 Ontario medical students with physician mentors each year. In 2025, it was redesigned in response to the strong demand for personalized, one-on-one mentorship expressed by medical students across the province.

CANMMP NATIONWIDE
The program expanded beyond provincial borders to connect and support medical students from coast to coast.
